Each and every one of us has ideas of things they want to do at some point in their lives, one off experiences that can develop you as a person and provide lasting memories. These goals can be made into a ‘bucket list’ of everything you want to do before you ‘kick the bucket’, just making the list is surprisingly great fun and can stir up old aspirations and thoughts, along with completely new ideas. Along with many young people, my list is almost endless, ranging from the little things such as smashing a pie in someone’s face to the big events – climbing Machu Pichu for instance. However, many lifelong dreams can still be achieved at a later date and with a little motivation and creative thinking every single idea can be ticked off!
Here are just a few common examples:
- Travelling to India
- Visiting each continent
- Going to Niagara Falls
- Sending a message in a bottle
- Riding an elephant
- Going scuba diving
- Witnessing a solar eclipse (the next one visible from the UK is probably on the 20th of March 2015)
Without sounding too cringey and cheesy, it is undoubtedly the people you share these experiences with that make them worth doing, that make them memorable, so a joint bucket list is a great way of getting the most out of it. The most important message to mention is that it is all very well creating a long list of hundreds of different implausible goals and inconceivable intentions but it is much better to have just a few that you are really passionate about, and genuinely intend to complete. Once achieved, it’s always fun to create a scrapbook or album of all of those great memories to look back on and boast about, so don’t shy away from the camera lens. Oh and don’t forget, always create a tick box because there is nothing more satisfying than ticking off that childhood dream!
There are many apps and sites available for inspiration (including a Laurella favourite – Pinterest) that can give you more ideas to add to your bucket list, but the best ones are always ones you’ve come up with yourself.Have you seen our newly created instagram page (thesilverliningsoflifeblog) for more pictures and ideas?
Have a great bucketing summer!
